Uncle Mordo (Mordehay) was born in 1913 in Istanbul, Turkey, to Zimbul and Eliya Gambash. He had a brother (Nisim) and two sisters (Fortune and Regina).
Around 1929, he immigrated to France and settled in Thonon-Les-Bains.
In French, his surname is pronounced as Gambache.
He married Aunt Suzan Molho in France. They had five children: Elda, Elie, Monique, Momo and Didi.

During World War II, they luckily survived the Nazi aggression against Jews thanks to French neighbours who sheltered them.

Uncle Mordo passed away on October 14, 1978, in Thonon-Les-Bains, France. His grave is in Jewish cemetery of Veyrier (nearby Geneva, Switzerland). Name of the cemetery in French: Cimetière Israélite de Veyrier.
